Queenstown/Wanaka/Te Anau
Day 1
Depart Christchurch along the east coast. Allow time to stop in Oamaru to view
the stunning Oamaru stone heritage buildings in the central township. Travel
through the historic goldfields region of Central Otago and arrive in Wanaka.
Enjoy a lakeside lunch before visiting the maze at Puzzling World or the New
Zealand fighter pilots museum.
Day 2
This morning before departing Wanaka there is the option of doing a half day
walk up Mount Aspiring. Drive to Queenstown and this evening enjoy a dinner on
board the steamer TSS Earnslaw.
Day 3
Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand and the activities to choose
from seem endless - jetboating, boat cruises, golfing, luging, paraponting,
gondola rides, wine tours, four wheel drive safaris as well as great nightlife
and restaurants.
Day 4
Continue to enjoy the activities on offer today in Queenstown.
Day 5
Two and a half hours drive from Queenstown is Te Anau, gateway to Milford and
Doubtful Sounds. Day trips to either sound will take you to some of the most
beautiful scenery in the world.
Day 6
A half day boat cruise to the Te Anau caves and a guided walk could be another
option today. Return to Queenstown this evening.
Day 7
Drive from Queenstown to Christchurch today via the stunning scenery of the
Lindis Pass, Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo and the MacKenzie Country.
